The cost of a bookkeeper for an LLC doesn't depend solely on the size of the business. Two companies with similar revenues may require very different amounts of work if one has few transactions and the other handles multiple accounts, cards, payroll, or past due payments.

Factors that usually affect the price

Among the most common factors are the number of bank accounts and cards, the number of monthly transactions, whether the books are up to date, whether there are accounts receivable or payable, and whether the business requires recurring reports or monitoring.

Monthly bookkeeping vs. clean up

Monthly bookkeeping keeps the books organized on an ongoing basis. A cleanup, on the other hand, usually requires reviewing previous months, correcting duplicates, reconciling overdue accounts, and resolving balances that don't match the statements.

Why it's not always best to choose based solely on price

A very basic service may be sufficient for a business with little activity, but if there are several accounts, old transactions or reports that don't add up, the scope should be adapted to the actual situation.

What information should you have before requesting a quote?

It is helpful to know how many accounts are used, how many months are outstanding, what accounting system the business uses, and approximately how many transactions are processed each month.
